Welcome to Rowan-Virtua TBES

The Rowan-Virtua School of Translational Biomedical Engineering and Sciences (formerly RowanGSBS) is located just outside of Philadelphia, and is South Jersey's premier center for biomedical research. Rowan University is classified as a Carnegie R2 institution, a designation shared by fewer than four percent of American colleges and universities. In addition to our Carnegie classification, we also benefit from a collaborative relationship and linkage with nationally-ranked Rowan-Virtua School of Osteopathic Medicine. The state-of-the-art research facilities and classrooms at Rowan-Virtua TBES prepare scientists and aspiring medical professionals to make critical contributions in anatomical sciences, biomedical sciences, histopathology and molecular cell biology & neuroscience. Our offerings also include a dual physician-scientist (DO/PhD) degree in molecular cell biology & neuroscience.

"I want to help students and future health care professionals see the body differently - through art, storytelling and connection," says Jessica Angelini, 2025 Master of Science in anatomical sciences graduate. "That understanding will ultimately make them better caregivers."
